Best Point Guard in NBA

Chris Paul, the Best Point Guard in the NBA league

If you were to defend Chris Paul during the game, you are in a big trouble. He will crossover, fake, and do whatever he could to fake you and go for a goal or give a fantastic dish. He is now one of the best Point-Guard in the NBA league. He is leading in assists and steals. I personally think that he is better than Magic Johnson.

Sorry, Magic. Move over Stockton. Nash? Not even close. Step aside Jason (oh, wait, he did). In his first foray in the NBA Playoffs, Chris Paul is obviously playing great. How great? Historic great.

After seven career playoff games, Paul is averaging 24.3 points and 12.1 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field, numbers that easily surpass his contemporaries at the point guard position after the same number of games – Allen Iverson (23.7, 4.4), Kidd (12.7, 10.), Nash (2.0, 0.4), Chauncey Billups (12.9, 3.9), and Tony Parker (14.6, 3.6).

What’s most impressive is that Paul’s numbers are better than legendary point guards Lenny Wilkens (15.4, 4.6), Walt Frazier (16.1, 9.3), Nate Archibald (18.7, 5.9), Magic (16.4, 10.4) and John Stockton (5.4, 3.6) after seven games. Only Earl Monroe (28) and Bob Cousy (27.3) averaged more points than Paul but their assist numbers are less than half of CP3’s. While Isiah’s scoring average is similar (24.6) his assists also come up short (6.4).

What might be somewhat of a surprise in viewing the all-time great point guard playoff numbers is that Paul’s stats are identical to Kevin Johnson’s in points (24) and assists (12.1) although K.J.’s shooting percentage isn’t nearly as good (.453).

Chris Paul the greatest playoff point guard in NBA history? After seven career games, you can make the case.
